Legend Rare Coin Auctions' Market Report for February 9, 2018

Posted by on 9 February 2018

Welcome to this week’s market report, lots of exciting happenings going on this week to talk about.

We have hit our stride, with consignment packages arriving for our upcoming sales coming in at a steady pace. Next up is our February Premier Session Internet Only auction. We have said in the past that our goal is to make these “mini” Regency Auctions. If you thought that our January Session had a great selection of coins, just wait until February 15, when we post the sale live! As of this moment (and we are still waiting on a few last second coins to be entered into our system), we have 137 lots, all personally approved by Laura Sperber herself—ensuring you really will get a Legend caliber coin. The insured value is $500,000 and 75% of the lots are CAC approved. After we are done loading these last few lots (check the site this weekend), we anticipate the sale being somewhere between 150 and 175 lots total.

Starting with the Premier Session, we are instating a new feature on our website. Previously, you would not know what is in our auctions until the sale was finalized and put into order. We are now posting the sale in “preview mode” allowing you to watch the sale get built. We will update the listings once a week until it goes live. You will be able to see as we add descriptions and images, but know that until the sale is in final order, descriptions, images, and estimates can be changed. This will help you, our customer in two ways: first it will help you plan. Also, if you see a selection of coins you think you can add to by consigning alongside what is already in the auction, it gives you the opportunity to contact us with time to do so.

Now is the time to make plans to consign to our 26th Regency Auction. Last week we announced that we are selling the Oak Crest Collection of Carson City Half Eagles and the Crow River Collection of Peace Dollars. In the coming days we will be making another announcement regarding another major collection we will be offering in auction. Consignments have been coming in at a good clip and we are already certain that it will be a great sale. There is still time to get your coins to us for the Regency 26 Auction. Our team will be at the Long Beach Show, the ANA’s National Money Show, and the March Baltimore Convention. However, you should make plans to discuss your holdings with us before, and if you can send them to our offices before the shows. Remember, space is limited in our sales, so the sooner your coins are in house the better, this way we can ensure your placement. Contact us today!
