Legend Rare Coin Auctions’ Market Report—June 30, 2017

This weekend we celebrate the birth of our great nation which affords us the freedoms we all enjoy including the pursuit of happiness, which if you are reading this includes numismatics. Between BBQs, trips to the beach, picnics, and fireworks, be sure to check out our upcoming Regency Auction featuring the Glacier Rams, 1994, JK’s Mirrors, Northern Lights, and A.W. Collections and important rare coins from many different consignors.

We have gotten a TON of feedback about our Regency Auction XXII—all very complimentary! They are very impressed with the quality. The 1994 Collection and Northern Lights coins are attracting bidding from many new collectors. At the recent Baltimore show, one of the most knowledgeable graders spent a long time marveling at the fully RED 1856 Proof large cent in lot 32. His exact quote: “This is your best auction yet!” This week, many collectors came to view lots, and multiple times we had to lift their chins from the table multiple times. There are now just short of two weeks to bid. We are seeing lots of strong bidding already, with lots of action in multiple areas, in fact we have well over $2,000,000 in bids already placed! Catalogs are in the mail and you should be receiving them in the coming days.

On Wednesday, July 5th, we will be posting the July Premier Sessions Internet Only Auction. The sale will close on July 19th. All coins will be available for viewing at our table at the PCGS Members Show. Included are an extensive offering of Proof Liberty nickels, Proof Franklin halves, and Morgan dollars. You can preview our lot listing today.

We are making a change to our terms on the PREMIER SESSIONS auctions. We will now be charging a 12.5% buyers fee which, if the invoice is paid by check, cash, or bank wire, will be discounted to 10%. Now there will be no limit on invoices paid by credit card. We think the change will overall benefit everyone participating in our auctions, giving collectors more payment options, thus being able to stretch their bidding. At this time, all other terms remain the same for our auctions; our Regency Auctions will retain the 17.5% buyer’s premium and we will continue to limit credit card payment to $2,500.
