Legend Rare Coin Auctions' Market Report-- December 1, 2017
Welcome to December! A very busy month awaits!
First up, with just under two weeks, is our Regency Auction XXIV, being held on Thursday, December 14 in Las Vegas in conjunction with the PCGS Members Show at Caesars. Hundreds of collectors have already registered to bid, and we are seeing strong bidding. Clearly the recent highs in the stock market and world record prices in other areas of collectibles and art (including a fresh record of over $450 million for a single painting!) has instilled confidence and the realization that in comparison, many areas of numismatics are truly undervalued and underappreciated. With many new bidders, as well as folks who have not bid in auction in quite some time, it looks like money is starting to come back into the numismatic market. While in other auctions, you will have to wade through hundreds (or thousands) of subpar material to find one or two items of interest, Legend Auctions has already done that for you, by vetting each and every consignment that is presented for our auctions, ensuring that you will love the coins you buy from us. We are having a special lot viewing in New York City on December 6. Contact us for more information! ALSO, a VERY IMPORTANT NOTE. Catalogs are in the mail. In the printing process, there was a small issue, and our printer is working to get them out ASAP, in the meantime, if you want to read through the catalog, our digital version is up on the web.
Our December Premier Session Auction is now closed for consignments and the sale will be posted online on December 11. It will feature over 140 lots, including the final selections from JK’s Mirror Collection and many large lots. This sale closes for bidding on Sunday, December 17, starting at 10pm east coast time. We will have more information about highlights next week and we think you will certainly enjoy bidding on these lots coming up.
LAST CALL for January’s Regency Auction 25! Space is running low now. We have some great coins already consigned, including a small group of MONSTER toned dollars (each PCGS/CAC and would have found themselves very comfortable with the Northern Lights coins had they been on the market when that record shattering collection was being assembled). Also is a VERY RARE $20 1920 PCGS MS65 (the second one made after 35+ years of operations at PCGS). Key date and highly desirable type coins have also been consigned, and we will be posting some highlights in the coming week or so. Be sure to take a look. If you have any coins you are thinking about consigning, be sure to tell us before December 8, and we need the coins in house no later than December 14 (BUT the earlier the better!). LRCA will present your prized coins to their finest advantage at our boutique venue, expertly written up, and portrayed by the best photography in the business. We offer very competitive rates and generous terms on cash advances. Contact us today to be WOW’D by what we can do for you!
